Lucille Campbell 1918 - 2010

Lucillie Campbell PhotoLucille Campbell, 91, Minot, ND, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, in a Minot nursing home.

Lucille C. Campbell was born April 13, 1918, a daughter of Forrest and Emma (Bruny) Campbell, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was raised and educated there. After high school, she attended a college for secretaries and then went to work for the veteran’s administration. The federal government reorganized its departments and she subsequently wound up working for the Air Force.

She always had an interest in the Orient and applied, through the Air Force, for a job there. An opening in Japan came in 1954. She was there until 1960, when she returned home to Minnesota. She later went to Korea and spent about two years there. She came back to the United States, completed a course in court reporting and in 1969, came to Minot, where she worked as a court reporter for District Judge Roy Ilvedson, Judge Halvor Halvorson, Judge Gary Holum. She continued as a court reporter for the state’s district court system until her retirement in 1984.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Minot.

Surviving family includes:  her cousins, Audrey Strane and family, Jane and Roy Carlson and family, Fern and Paul Yocum, all of Minnesota, and Helen and Norman Sorge of Florida; her God son, TaKao Hashimoto, of Japan; and her many special friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.

Visitation:
Friday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
