Joe Burkhardsmeier • 1908 - 2007 Joseph Burkhardsmeier was born May 22, 1908, the son of Peter and Josephine (Mitzel) Burkhardsmeier in Fulda, ND. He was baptized on June 8, 1908, at St. Anselm's Church in Fulda, ND. He attended grade school in Berwick, ND. Joe married Clara Ehli February 8, 1937, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Towner, ND. They made their home in Towner for a short time before moving to Denbigh, ND, where he was a farmer and rancher. In 1957, they moved back to Towner, where he owned and operated a barber shop. In 1959, the family moved to Beach, ND, where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store. In 1961, the family moved to Minot, where he owned and operated the East Side Barber and Beauty Shop. Clara passed away May 20, 2002. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge of Minot. Surviving family includes: children, Ron (Bonnie) Burkhardsmeier, Wasilla, AK, Joan (Bob) Krout, Poulsbo, WA, dee (Richard) Tarp, Fresno, CA, Gary (Gerri) Burkhardsmeier, Fountain Hills, AZ, Gloria (Dwayne) Erickson, Harker Heights, TX, Jerry (Lori) Burkhardsmeier, Granville, ND, and Bonnie (Wayne) Weber, Berkeley Springs, WV; daughter-in-law, Donna (Marlo) Grindberg, Hazen, ND, who was married to his son, Robert, who died in 1977; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren with one due any day; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josephine; wife, Clara; son, Robert; brothers, Christian, Andrew, Sylvester, Adam, Frank, and John; and sister, Mary Reiter. Funeral: Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 10:30 am
