Clara Burkhardsmeier 1916 - 2002 Clara Burkhardsmeier, 86, 706-16th Ave. SE, Minot, ND, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in a Minot Healthcare Facility. She was born on April 14, 1916 in Esmond, ND, the daughter of Christ and Mary (Wenz) Ehli. She was baptized in Strasburg and graduated from high school in Minnewaukan . She married Joseph Burkhardsmeier on February 8, 1936 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Towner. They lived in Towner for a short time before moving to Denbigh, where they farmed until 1957 before moving back to Towner, where she worked for the Red Owl Grocery Store. In 1959 they moved to Beach, ND where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store for two years. In 1961, they moved to Minot where she worked at JC Penney, a custom drapery shop in Minot and was a door greeter at Kmart before retiring. Clara was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary both of Minot. Clara is survived by her husband, Joe Burkhardsmeier, Minot; children, Ron Burkhardsmeier, Wasilla, Alaska, Joan Krout and her husband, Bob, Poulsbo, WA, dee Tarp and her husband, Richard, Fresno, CA, Gary Burkhardsmeier, and his wife, Gerri, Fountain Hills, AZ, Gloria Erickson and her husband, Dwayne, Harker Heights, TX, Gerald Burkhardsmeier, and his wife, Lori, Granville, ND and Bonnie Weber and her husband Wayne, Berkley Springs, WV; daughter-in-law, who was married to her son, Robert, who died in 1977, Donna Burkhardsmeier- Grindberg and her husband, Marlo, Hazen, ND; eight brothers and sisters, Barbara Reiter, Tacoma, WA, Pius Ehli and his wife, Bonnie, Billings, MT, Marian Welk and her husband, Joseph, Tacoma, WA, Helen Thiel and her husband, Conard, Billings, MT, Isabel Bertsch, Billings, MT, Doris Hurd and her husband, Richard, Tacoma, WA, Walter Ehli and his wife, Barb, Mesa, AZ and Delores Rootes and her husband, Gordon, Coon Rapids, MN. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert, parents, Mary and Christ Ehli and sisters, Odella Welk and Stella Volk. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
