Audrey Burke 1913 - 2011 Audrey Cook was born November 26, 1913, in Weyburn, Sask., Canada. She was the daughter of Percy Cook and Deborah Blanch Young Cook. She was raised in Minot and attended Minot Public Schools. She became a citizen of the United States in 1934. Audrey married John S. Burke on May 7, 1933, in North Portal, Sask., Canada. They resided in Minot until they moved to Larimore, ND, where John managed a propane business. Later they moved to Williston, back to Minot and then to Garrison, where John was district manager of Montana Dakota Utilities. John passed away January 18, 1964 in Garrison. Following her husband’s death she remained in Garrison working for Robinson Rexal Drug until her daughter Vivian graduated from high school. Audrey moved back to Minot where she was employed by Home of Economy. Audrey was also a house mother for several girls who attended Minot State University. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Minot. She belonged to St. Agnes Guild and Girls Friendly. She was also a Girl Scout Brownie leader. Audrey enjoyed crocheting and took county fair blue ribbons. Audrey is survived by her son, John “Jack” (Sheryl) Burke, Minot; daughters, Vivian Helm, Hazen, ND, and Joyce Kohls, Minot; grandchildren, Deborah (Dennis) Jorgensen, Yreka, CA, Michael (Debra) Burke, Bismarck, ND, Patrick (companion Alana Ludwig) Burke, Fargo, ND, Nathan (Lisa) Burke, Minot, Derrick (Tanya) Burke, Minot, George (Rebecca) Helm, Mandan, and Mat Helm, Hazen; 16 great-grandchildren; three nieces and her close friends of 70 years, Lillian Stroud, Minot and Alice Michaels, Burnsville, MN. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Shirley Moe, Minot, Lucy Barke Ingebretson, Williston, Sarah Hancock, Ft. Pierce, FL, and nephew, Dewayne Barke, Williston. Funeral: Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 10:30 am at All Saints Episcopal Church, Minot. Visitation: Monday, February 28, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
