Alice Burkart • 1926- 2010 Alice was born on April 9, 1926, on the family farm in Sheridan County, ND the daughter of William and Cary (Hoffer) Manz. She was reared and educated in Sheridan County. On July 1, 1945, she married Walter Burkart in Sheridan County, ND. They farmed near Denhoff, ND, until 1951, when they moved to Highland Township, Sheridan County, near Kief, ND. They farmed and ranched there until 1990, when they moved to Drake, ND. While on the farm, they milked until 1969 and then raised Angus Cattle and raised sheep for a short time. Walter died on March 28, 1996 and Alice moved into an adult foster care home in Granville and the Trinity Nursing Home, Minot, in 1998. Alice is survived by her son, Alvin Burkart and his wife Charlene Martwick, Kief, grandsons, Matthew Dean ( Dawn Koble) Burkart, Menokken, ND, and John Peter(Leslie Ziegler) Burkart, Keif, great grand-daughter, Khloey Pauline; sisters, Lydia Hall, Minot and Anna Walth, Fargo; brother, Edward Manz, Minneapolis, MN. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter Burkart; daughter in law, Pauline Burkart; brothers, Walter and Harold Manz, and sister, Bertha Jans. Funeral: Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, Minot, ND, on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. Burial: Drake Community Cemetery, Drake, ND Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the nursing home.
