Alice Burgard 1935- 2011 Alice Bertha Pfeifer was born March 23, 1935, a daughter of Odmar and Mary (Adam) Pfeifer in Silva, ND. She was raised and educated in Berwick and Anamoose. As a young adult, she assisted her parents with the operation of the family farm. She later worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital to help provide for her family. Alice married Leo W. Burgard October 18, 1955, in Drake, ND. They made their home on a farm near Selz, ND, where they farmed small grains and raised livestock. In 1959, they moved to Minot, where she worked part time as a hairstylist and cleaned various local businesses at night. She later opened her own thrift store, “ABC Market” which she owned and operated for over 20 years. She retired in 2006. She was a former member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and Little Flowers Catholic Church, both in Minot, and was currently a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot. Alice was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and friends unconditionally. She spent her time raising her family, attending church, and socializing with friends. Alice enjoyed camping, baking, tending her flowers, and could never pass up a good sale. She will be greatly missed by her family but lovingly remembered for her generosity and unwavering love. Her devotion to her family was only surpassed by her faith and confidence in Jesus as her Savior. Her loving family includes: husband of 55 years, Leo, Minot;
children, Ronald (Valerie) Burgard, Minot, Debbie Burgard, New Town, Gary Burgard, Minot, Leo (Tanya) Burgard, Minot, Bruce Burgard, Minot, Larry Burgard, Minot, and Dale Burgard;
grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Merchant, Becky (Bryan) Banfill, Heather Burgard, Heidi Burgard, Garrett Schell, Dean Geiger, Eric Burgard, Aaron Burgard, Allen Burgard, Leah Burgard, Jonathon Burgard, Alex Burgard, Amanda Bruder, and Shane Burgard;
great-grandchildren, Ava Merchant, Alayna Geiger, and Logan Geiger;
brothers, Francis(Rosella) Pfeifer, and Odmar Pfeifer Jr.; sisters, Audrey (Jerome) Weigel, Patricia (Harvey) Bromley, Rose Mary (Herbert) Filler, Angeline (Leo) Rudnick, and Dorothy (Milton) Bachmeier; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marie Burgard, Oklahoma, Alice Schaan, Oregon, Jean Burgard, Bismarck, Betty Kraft, Harvey, Eva (Wilfred) Keller, Harvey, Helen Burgard, Harvey, Richard (Betty) Burgard, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
