Elizabeth "Betty Burckhard
1914 - 2003 Elizabeth "Betty" Burckhard, 88, Reno, Nevada, formerly of Norwich, died Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in a Reno Care Center. Elizabeth was born on April 17, 1914 in Berwick, ND, the daughter of Wendelin and Clementine (Boechler) Burckhard. She was reared and educated in Norwich, North Dakota and graduated from Norwich High School. She then worked at restaurants in Velva and Minot before moving to Berkley, California where she worked as a hostess at the 1939 World's Fair. She continued to live in Berkley and worked as a hostess at the Black Sheep Restaurant. She later retired and moved to Reno, Nevada to be near her brothers. She had been living in the Regent Care Center of Reno. Survivors: brother, Michael Burckhard of Reno, NV; sisters, Dorothy Bossert, Karlsruhe, ND and Theresa Anderson of Minot. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Regina Dettling and Veronica Burckhard, brothers, Matt, Phillip, Larry and Albert Burckhard. Funeral: Saturday, February 8, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe, ND Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Karlsruhe. There will be no wake service the night before. There will be recitation of the Holy Rosary on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
