Floyd Irvin "Speedy"
Bryan 1909 - 2005 Floyd Irvin "Speedy" Bryan, 81, Bagley, MN, formerly of Bowbells, ND, died on June 11, 2005, at Greensview Care Center, Bagley. Floyd was born on February 13, 1924, in Burke County, near Bowbells, ND, the son of Floyd and Claire (Mitchell) Bryan. He graduated from Bowbells High School in 1942. His junior year of High School, Floyd was to take over running the family farm due to his father's ill health. This began his career in farming that span over 59 years. He married Delores Geiger, the love of his life, on June 18, 1947. The couple lived on his grandfathers' homesteaded farm throughout their marriage. They raised small grains and registered Angus cattle. Due to health reasons, they moved to a retirement community in Bagley, to be near their daughter. He was active as a leader in many organizations and served on several county committees. He was a member of and served in several offices at the Bowbells United Methodist Church, Bowbells. He was Harvest States Elevator Director for 39 years serving as president for many of those years. He was a member of the North Dakota Angus Association and also a director. He held a lifetime membership of the Elks and the Eagles Arie in Minot, ND. Floyd enjoyed music and in his early adult life he played clarinet in the Bowbells City Band. He enjoyed traveling during the winter months for over 27 years. He valued education, hard work, family and friends throughout his life. Survivors: wife, Delores, Bagley, MN; daughters, DonnaRae Jacobson, Bowbells, ND and Linda Lee (Kelly) Nordlund, Clearbrook, MN; grandsons, Bryan Jacobson, and Michael and Samuel Nordlund; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Claire, and brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Regina Bryan. Memorial Service: Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Bowbells. Friends may sign a register book one hour prior to the service at the church.
