Stella J. (Grant) Bruels
• 1928 - 2007 Stella was born on July 24, 1928 in Tagus, ND, the daughter of Robert M. and Gertrude (Matthews) Grant. She was raised in Tagus and moved to Minot in September of 1943. Stella graduated from Minot High School in 1946 and went to work for Trinity Hospital as secretary for J.C. Lund. She later worked at the Minot Post Office as secretary for Miss Nell Dougherty until moving to rural Berthold where Stella and her husband, Francis farmed. She married Francis Bruels on April 18, 1949 in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Francis passed away on December 3, 1981 and Stella moved into Berthold. In 1990, she moved into Minot, where she lived until her death. Stella was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold. She was also a member of the churches Altar Society in which she also held offices. Stella was a member of the Berthold Homemakers Club, the Berthold Bridge Club and was a Avon lady for 28 years. Stella enjoyed watching her children participate in many sporting events. Stella is survived by sons: Frank (Val) Bruels, Minot and Ray (Mary Pat) Bruels, Dickinson; daughters, Gloria (Denis) Gorde, Storm Lake, Iowa and Maureen (Ron) Groth, Gackle; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They are: Pam, Kiley, Abbie and Morgan Wilson, Paula, Dan and Sydney Smothers, Tara, Jeff and Braxton Steele, Chad Bruels, Shantel and Eric Thompson, Suzanne Bruels, Sasha Bruels, Lindi, Andy, Kenzie, Bailey and Eli Heflin and Amy Groth; sisters, Donna Olson and Patricia Grant, both of Minot and Dorothy (Bud) Korte, Berthold ; Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers
and sisters, Robert E. Grant, Helen Wilhelm, Gordon Grant, Margaret
Hennessy, Howard Grant and Mildred Olson. Visitation: Noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 7,
