Eldora Brothen 1927 - 2011 Eldora A. Seney was born April 29, 1927, a daughter of Ira W. and Blondina A. (Holmes), in Minot, ND. She was raised on the Seney family farm located at Newman Township of Ward County, ND. She attended School District #58 near South Prairie, ND. She was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. As a young adult, she worked at Langseth Café in order to help her mother Eldora married Clarence R. Brothen October 10, 1948, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where she and her husband operated the Brothen Motel, the first motel in Minot. They also operated a Standard Oil gas station in conjunction with the motel. These businesses were also built and operated along with Clarence’s’ brother, Lorry. They operated these businesses for more than 22 years, and then sold those businesses and she helped her husband with his construction business until retirement in the 1990’s. Clarence passed away June 3, 2004. Following her husband’s death, she continued to reside in Minot. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot, and the ladies of the church. She enjoyed having coffee with her coffee ladies club, bowling, and traveling in her retirement.
