Kathryn M. Brossart 1916 - 2009 Kathryn Fiest was born March 3, 1916 in Wilhelmina, Alberta, Canada, to Frank and Rose (Fischer) Fiest. She was raised and educated in the Towner, ND, area. On October 17, 1938, Kathryn married Benedict "Bennie" Brossart in Towner, ND. They farmed in Pierce County until 1948, when they moved to Voltaire. They farmed in the Voltaire area until 1997, when they retired and moved to Minot. Bennie died on March 29, 2002. Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Balfour, ND and St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva and St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. She was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Kathryn loved her family and friends and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, canning, gardening and she loved to play cards. Those who shared in her life, sons, Bennie J. (Marlys) Brossart, Minot, ND, Robert (Mabel) Brossart, Westhope, ND, and Ronald (Jami) Brossart, Bergen, ND; daughters, Elizabeth (Ron) Leier, Karlsruhe, ND and Rose Brossart, Mayville, ND; daughter-in-law, Vickie Brossart, Grafton, ND; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Heinrich, Minot; brother, John (Tillie) Fiest, Minot; sisters-in-law, Lucille Fiest and Maggie Fiest, both of Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie; son, Donald; daughter-in-law, Shirley; great-granddaughter, Emily Kuhn; parents, Frank and Rose Fiest, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral: Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2009, from noon to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, ND, at a later date. Service Participants Music Active Bearers: Kathryn's grandsons Following the funeral service everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.
