LaVon Brockey 1946 - 2007

LaVon Brockey, 60, Minot and Turtle Lake, ND, died Wednesday, August 22, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

LaVon Gail Stadler was born to Wanda and Edward Stadler, in Minot, ND, on September 28, 1946. They lived on a farm near Ruso until 1959 when they moved to Rugby, ND. In 1963, they moved to Minot. LaVon married David Bussierre in 1964. David was in the Air Force so they lived on base until he was transferred to Springfield MA. They were later divorced.

LaVon worked as a photographer for a number of years and then returned to Minot. She later met Frank Brockey and they were married in 1981. Together they had antique businesses in Minot, Ruso, and Velva. Frank died in 2000. She continued the antique business and most recently had a shop in Turtle Lake, ND.

LaVon is survived by her son, Jeremy Brockey, Minneapolis, MN; mother, Wanda Mikkelson, Minot; sisters, Jill (Kent) Hanson, Des Lacs, ND, Donna Williams, Cheyenne, WY, Randi (Boyd) Halvorson, Minot; mother-in-law, Irene Brockey, Minot; stepchildren, Lance Brockey, Grant Brockey, Brian Brockey, Debbie Haaland, and Kristine Smith; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews; aunts, Martha Heckman, Underwood, ND, Judy Stadler, Turtle Lake, and Audrey Kelley, Minot; stepbrothers, Richard (Kay) Mikkelson, Ruso, Keith Mikkelson, Minot; stepsister, Arlene (Merrill) Schalow, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brockey; father, Edward Stadler; grandparents, Eddie and Elsie Iverson and Joseph and Caroline Stadler; step-brother, Donald Mikkelson; and stepfather, Art Mikkelson.

Memorial Service: Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00 am at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.

Visitation: Monday, August 27, 2007 from 10:00 am until 11:00 at the church.
