Gary Allen Brockel • 1938 - 2010

Gary Allen Brockel, 71, born July 10, 1938 in Burlington, ND was residing in Douglas T. Jacobson Veteran’s Nursing Home, Port Charlotte, FL at the time of his death, March 8, 2010.  Gary had been battling Alzheimer’s for many years. 

After moving from Minot, he had lived in Glasgow, MT until 2002.  Gary retired from Burlington Northern Railroad and had been an Army Veteran. 

A celebration of his life will be graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens, March 17th at 1:00 in Minot. 

Gary leaves behind two daughters he loved dearly, Patricia (Roxanne) Renier of Great Falls, MT and Shannon Jorgenson of West Fargo, ND.  Grandchildren:  Natacia Abresch and Mikayla Renier, both of Great Falls, MT.  Brittany Renier and a great granddaughter, Holly Yeager both of Xenia, OH.  Two grandsons of West Fargo, ND.  Gary spent some time living with his nephew, Lee and Theresa Brockel of Eustis, FL prior to residing in the nursing home.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lee and Rose Brockel, his brothers, Warren and Baby Boy Brockel, and one nephew.  He leaves behind 4 nieces, besides his nephew.   

Gary became a member of the First Lutheran Church in 1966.  He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping, skiing and vacationing in Mexico.  He enjoyed laughing and the sparkle in his eye let you know a joke was forth coming.  He enjoyed carpentry and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out how to fix, make, or build.  He loved the companionship of his dogs over the years, Fritz being his last.  Gary enjoyed gardening, 4 wheeling, and boating.  He was loved by those that knew him and he will be greatly missed.
