Dale William Brockel 1930 - 2005

Dale William Brockel, 75, 19701 Highway 2 W., died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, in Minot.

He was born March 22, 1930, in Minot to William and Hazel Brockel. He attended grade school in Burlington and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1948. Dale enlisted in the Army immediately following high school and was stationed at Scofield Army Base, Hawaii, as a Radio Telegraph operator. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952. Following his service, he attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, as well as, a business school in Minneapolis, MN. After his education, he later returned to work in the Minot area.

It was while he was employed in the Minot area, that Dale met his long time bride of 50 years, Lillian Skjoldal. They were later married on July 15, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Minot. They made their home in the Burlington-Minot area, where they have continued to live.

Dale served as a State Trooper for the North Dakota State Highway Patrol during the first couple of years following their marriage. He eventually became employed by Auran Chevrolet (now Jim Ryan Chevrolet), until suffering his first heart attack in 1968 at the age of only 37. His heart condition eventually forced him into early disability retirement and self-employment. While self-employed, he owned and operated his own limousine service in Minot and the surrounding area. Some of his most memorable highlights were chauffeuring such celebrities as the Princess of Norway, Angie Dickinson, Miss Universe, as well as several other movie actors.

Dale and Lillian have resided in the Burlington-Minot area their entire lives where they raised their four sons, especially enjoying supporting their children's many activities as they grew up. Some of Dale's interests included cars, his love for serving as an usher at the First Assembly of God Church, where his joy in the Lord and love for people were known by all who knew him, but most of all Dale loved the time with his family and making the many trips to Colorado Springs to be with his sons and grandchildren.

His loving family includes: Sons: Kevin Brockel of Burlington (passed away in 1999), Brad (Sheri) Brockel, Lance (Janice) Brockel, and Derrick Brockel all currently residing in Colorado Springs, CO. Grandchildren: Allie, Alexander, Connor, Dylan and Brooke.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents (William and Hazel) and oldest son, Kevin.
