Elaine K. Briggs 1924 - 2003

Elaine K. Briggs, 78, 305 8th Ave. NE, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, died Friday in a Minot nursing home.

She was born October 3, 1924, in Northgate, ND, to David C. and Katherene A. (Voss) Strand. She was raised and educated in the Bowbells area. She held various jobs in Bowbells, Crosby and Kenmare throughout the years.

On November 23, 1943, she married Holger Briggs. They lived in Bowbells until 1956 when they moved to Crosby. In 1961 they moved to Vancouver, WA, and moved to Kenmare in 1963. Her husband died in August of 1982. Elaine continued living in Kenmare until 1991 when she moved to Minot. She had been residing at Trinity Nursing Home since July, 2000.

She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Minot and was active in Saints Alive at the church. She was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bowbells and Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, where she was active in a church circle. While living in Kenmare she was also active in a ceramics club and knitting club.

Survivors: son, Robert "Bob" Briggs and wife DiAnn, Minot; daughter, Shari Mau and husband Ernie, Tolley; grandchildren, Tim (Jennifer) Mau, Tom Mau and fiancee Laurie, Dawn (Jade) Bergeron, Brenda (Patrick) Sommer and Tonya Mau; great-grandchildren, Tayler and Caden Mau, Tayten Mau, Justin and Jordan Bergeron and Piper Sommer; brother, Robert "Bud" Strand, Crosby; sisters, Dorothy "Tudy" Halliday and Eunice "Chickie" (Tom) Kneip, all of Brookings, SD and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Neil Strand and sister, Betty "Tiny" Hanson.

Funeral: Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bowbells in the spring.
