Josephine "JoAnne" Brice 1936 - 2002

Josephine "JoAnne" Brice, 66, formerly of Minot, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002 in a foster care home in Lake Oswego, OR.

She was born on January 10, 1936, in Minot, ND to Nicholas and Marion (Riddle) Filzen. She was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Model High School in 1954. Following graduation, she moved to Long Beach, CA. She worked as a banking assistant for a time. She met and married William Brice while in California. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN for a time, and later returned to California. Her husband died in 1980. JoAnne moved to Minot in 1981, and went to work as a cook at Little Flower Catholic School. She worked from 1988 until 1994, when she was forced to retire due to health problems. In 1996, she moved to Lake Oswego, where she resided at an adult foster care home until the time of her death.

She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and the Ladies Aid. JoAnne loved to crochet and play cards. She had a love for animals and was a very positive and upbeat person.

Survivors: daughter, Elizabeth Poff and husband William, Minot; two grandchildren, Tony and Emily Poff; sister, Theresa Anderson, Scobey, MT and sister-in-law, Edith Gentry, Phoenix, AZ. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Her husband and her parents preceded her in death.

Memorial Service: Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
