Donald L. "Sarge" Brewer, 76, 511 3rd St. NW, Minot, ND, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Trinity Hospital, Minot.

Donald L. Brewer was born October 2, 1931, the son of Edgel and Loa Mae (Wax) Brewer in Paonia, Colorado. He and his family moved to Gunnison, CO, where he graduated from high school.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force March 6, 1952, serving in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He was also stationed at several bases throughout the United States. Throughout his service to his country, he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired and was honorably discharged May 31, 1972. The Air Force was Don's life and he was very proud to have served.

Don was married to Carole (Elliott) Sather in 2003. They made their home in Minot, where he had worked various jobs until he retired. Donald "Sarge" Brewer military photo

Don enjoyed camping, fishing, yard work, and flowers. He also enjoyed taking his yearly trips to his beloved mountains in Colorado.

His loving family includes: wife, Carole Brewer, Minot; daughter, Cindy (Keith) Bergeron, Hammond, LA; granddaughter, Rochelle Cacioppo; great-grandson, Michael Cacioppo; step children, Dr. Jeff (Shelly) Sather, Minot, Lonnie Sather, Velva, and Tammie Mack, Surrey; 12 step grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; brother, Irving Brewer, Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Edna Frye and Barbara Layton, both of Gunnison, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

Sarge was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Joann.

Memorial Service: Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: No reviewal, but friends may sign the register book on Friday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
