Patricia Brevig 1923 - 2004

Patricia Brevig, 81, 2153 First Ave. SW, Minot, died Thursday, June3, 2004 in her home.

Patricia Frances Johnson was born on May 17, 1923, to Fred and Jane (McCauley) Johnson in Deering, ND. She graduated from Deering High School in 1941. After high school, Pat attended Minot State Teachers College and received her teacher's degree.

Pat taught at a country school near Deering for one year. After that, she became a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Minot and was later promoted to teller. She later worked for Sears Roebuck in Minot, ultimately becoming the manager of it's credit department.

On June 19, 1958, Pat married Rodney Wayne Brevig in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Rodney had been a Navy fighter pilot in WW II and was a federal game and fish agent after the war. On May 20, 1959, they had their first child, Trisha. She was followed closely by their second child, Michael, on April 23, 1960. After her children were born, Pat resigned her position to be home with them. Pat and Rod spent much of their children's formative years attending athletic events in which Trish and Mike participated at St. Leo's and Ryan High School. During those years, Pat also did volunteer work at St. Leo's working in the library, the lunchroom, and wherever else she was needed.

Pat lost Rod to a heart attack on December 23, 1980. The following day, her first grandchild, Stuart Rodney Nostdahl, was born. Pat then focused her energies on being a grandmother, a job for which she was especially well-suited. Pat's grandchildren n Minot, Stuart, Jordyn, Keaton, and Payton Nostdahl, all grew up with Grandma Pat's undivided attention and enjoyed spending time playing cards or watching the Minnesota Twins games with her, among other things. Grandma Pat attended countless school programs, athletic events, and recitals involving her grandchildren. Pat also traveled to Denver as often as she could to visit her other two grandchildren, Dominick and Mason Brevig, who also enjoyed her company immensely.

Pat also was involved in weekly bridge games for over 40 years and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 50 years. She was a former member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Minot.

Pat will be sorely missed by all those she left behind including her daughter, Trisha (Jim) Nostdahl, Minot, son, Michael (Anne) Brevig, Littleton, Colorado, grandchildren, Stuart, Jordyn, Keaton and Payton, Nostdahl, Dominick and Mason Brevig, sister, Madonna Mueller, Minot, sister-in-law, Marv Brevig, Rochester, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
