Dolores L. Bretheim • 1924 - 2010 Dolores L. Hanson was born November 4, 1924 in La Grande, OR to Gustav and Martha (Hauge) Hanson. She moved with her family to rural Manfred, ND, where she attended country school, and in 1941 graduated from Harvey High School. Dolores attended Minot State Teacher’s College and earned her Standard Teaching Certificate. She taught school for one year in rural Manfred. On July 9, 1944, Dolores married Reuben J. Bretheim in Harvey, ND. Following their marriage they lived in Philadelphia, where Reuben worked for the civil service branch of the Signal Corps. In 1947 they moved to Minot, and in 1971 Reuben became sole owner of Northwestern Electric. Reuben passed away on January 3, 2007. Following his death Dolores remained in Minot and enjoyed her daily trips to the mall with her friends for coffee. She was always involved in community activities, and continued to be, until a few months ago. Together, Dolores and Reuben enjoyed sharing their lake home at Lake Metigoshe with family and friends. Dolores also loved to golf, bowl, watch basketball and do her many crafts. Dolores and Reuben hardly ever missed a Minot High School home basketball game. She was very active with the Republican Women. She also served as election judge for the City of Minot for over 40 years. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Manor Care for the extraordinary care given to our mother. We were truly blessed to have your love and support during these last months. Those who shared in her life, Daughters, Dianne (Richard) Gleason, Surprise, AZ, and Bette (Bill) Grosche, Minot, ND; son, Paul (Patty) Bretheim, Minot; seven grandchildren, Gregory (Kit) Gleason, Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (Leslie) Gleason, Phoenix, AZ, Travis (Tiffany) Grosche, Brent (Bianca) Grosche, Jeffrey (Stacey) Grosche, Shonda and Eric Bretheim, all of Minot; nine great-grandchildren; brother, George (Arlene) Hanson, Minot; brothers-in-law, David (Pat) Bretheim, Minneapolis, MN, and Rev. Ben (Hildur) Bretheim; sister-in-law, Doris Bretheim, Minneapolis, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, and her parents. Funeral: Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Friday, July 23, 2010, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND, and Saturday one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND, or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
