Catherine Kay "Cathey"
Brekhus • 1947 - 2008 Cathey was born November 30, 1947, in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Schneiderman) Egeberg. Cathey graduated from Tolley High School in 1965. She married Lyle M. Brekhus on October 15, 1966, in Mohall, ND. The couple lived and farmed in Rockford Township and in 1984 Cathey bought the Lakeshore Bar. Cathey owned and operated the bar up until 1994 when she retired. Cathey and Lyle enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winters and spending time at Smishek Lake in summers. Lyle died on October 18, 1997, in Minot. Cathey continued to live at Lakeshore and travel to Arizona with Donny "Gravy" Gravesen. Cathey loved to do crafts, crochet, be outdoors, attend rummage sales, puzzles, traveling and spending time with Gravy and all the kids. Cathey was a member of Evanger Lutheran Church, Norma the ladies aide, plus Tolley Jayceettes, and the Stoney Run Sportsmen Club. Survivors: sons, Monte (Christy) Brekhus, Kenmare, and Ronnie (Cindy) Brekhus, Post Falls, ID; daughters, Carla (Mike) Bartuska, Minot and Tina (Joren) Boyce, Minot, Renee (Shawn) Roering, Bowbells; grandchildren, Catlin, Chernee, Courtney, Brianna, Shania, Kendra, Colton, Mindee, Amber, Andrew, Brooke and Kaydee; brothers, Ronnie (Margo) Egeberg, Kenmare and Gary Egeberg, Lakeshore, ND; sister, Jeanie (Milt) Brekhus, Kenmare; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Donny "Gravy" Gravesen, Kenmare and his children Crystal, Amanda and Kelly and their children, Riley, Carter, and Jaryn, and Donny's parents, Floyd and Inez Gravesen. Memorial Service: Monday, April 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Evanger Lutheran Church, Norma, ND. Friends may sign a register book Sunday, April 6, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare. Officiant: Rev.
