Eugene Breiland • 1936 - 2011 Eugene was born July 9, 1936, a son of Gunder and Mabel (Scholas) Breiland, in Ryder, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School. He later attended Minot State College, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Gene enlisted in the United States Army March 17, 1960. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged April 20, 1962. Gene married Judith M. Herda March 31, 1960. Eugene began his career with the U.S. Government as an accountant. With his civil service employment, they lived in various Air Force Bases throughout the United States and overseas, including Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. He retired from civil service after 30 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Following his retirement, they moved back to Minot. He was an avid sports fan. Surviving family includes: wife of 51 years, Judy, Minot; daughters, Laurie (Dana) Bjertness, Minot, and Loni (Kevin) Martin, Minot; son, Thomas Breiland, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Levi (Darcy) Bjertness, Minot, Lacie Bjertness, Minot, Jesika and Jadin Martin, Minot, and Lindsey Breiland, St. Louis, MO; great-grandchild, Brinley Bjertness, Minot; brothers, Don Breiland, St. Louis, MO, and Mel Breiland, Apple Valley, MN; sister, Lila Koenigsman, Minot; a few nieces and nephews; and his furry companion, Teki. Funeral: Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
