Astrid Breding, 92, of Alamogordo, N.M., passed away Friday, November 9, 2007, at Casa Arena Blanca Nursing Home in Alamogordo.

Astrid was born in Norma, N.D., on October 20, 1915, to John Ellis and Anna Marie (Nordstrom) Oberg. She grew up on the family homestead and attended high school in Kenmare, N.D. She married Gordon Breding on November 17, 1934, in Kenmare, and they were married for 62 years. Astrid and Gordon lived in various Midwestern states when Gordon was working for Gamble-Skogmo. In 1951 they moved to Stanley, N.D., where they owned and operated the Gamble Store. Upon their retirement, they remained in Stanley. After Gordon passed away, Astrid moved to Alamogordo in 2000. In Alamogordo, Astrid lived at Amber Skies Mobile Home Park, then moved to The Aristocrat Assisted Living Community, and finally to Casa Arena Blanca.

She enjoyed the weather in the Southwest, the friendly people, her teddy bear collection, NMSU-A Theatre, and her cat, Jake. Astrid was a member of the Stanley Baptist Church and the American Baptist Women's Mission Circle.
She is survived by her two children, Roger W. Breding and his wife, Claudia, of Redmond, WA, and Connie J. Breding of Alamogordo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ida Oberg of Kenmare, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her brother, Carl Oberg; and her sister, Lillian Purdy.

Memorial service: Will be held on Thursday, November 29, at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Kenmare, with Pastor Gary Cole officiating.

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.

Alamogordo Funeral Home, Alamogordo, handled arrangements in Alamogordo.
