Agnes Evelyn Breding 1916 - 2002

Agnes Evelyn Breding, 85, Powers Lake, ND, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, in the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.

Agnes was born July 19, 1916, on the family farm six miles southwest of Powers Lake, ND, the daughter of Edwin and Anna (Olson) Jorgenson. She attended country school and later graduated from Powers Lake High School. While attending high school she worked at the Lakeview Hotel in Powers Lake to help pay for her schooling.

On July 10, 1934 she married Clarence Breding in Bowbells, ND. The couple made their home in Powers Lake. Agnes had worked for a time as a nurse's aid in a California hospital. While in Powers Lake she worked as a secretary for Breding Chevrolet. She also worked at the Powers Lake High School as secretary to the superintendent. She later managed the "Trading Post," which was a Scandinavian import store that She and Clarence owned and operated.

Agnes was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake, ND. She taught Adult Sunday School classes for several years, and Bible Study was very important to her. She had a deep faith and was persistent in her faith. At one time she was a voice on the radio program, "Prairie Lighthouse Hour." During this weekly broadcast she read poetry, which she loved. She was a compassionate, loving person who had a special way of always seeing the good in everyone. She was an inspiration to all. She was a very quiet person, but when she spoke, she spoke eloquently and in a way that you remembered what she said. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors: Husband, Clarence, Powers Lake; sons, Ron (Ardell) Breding, Salinas, CA, and Carter (Dawnelle) Breding, Williston; daughter, Sheila (Clarence) Ehnes, Gregory, SD; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Bonnie) Jorgenson, Powers Lake, and James Jorgenson, Williston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Breding; parents, Edwin and Anna Jorgenson; sister, Esther Peterson, and brother, Adolph Jorgenson.

Funeral: Monday, July 8, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, July 7, 2002, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake, ND.

The Celebration of the Life of Agnes Breding Service: Sunday, July 7, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Powers Lake. The public is welcomed to attend this service.
