Jerry Brandt 1928- 2006

Jerry J. Brandt, 77, Stanley, ND, formerly of Upham, ND, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in a Stanley hospital.

Jerry was born on May 19, 1928, in Upham, ND, the son of Henry and Cora (Grondahl) Brandt. He was raised on a farm at Upham and graduated from Upham High School. He joined the United States Army in 1951, and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was honorably discharged in 1953.

He married Bette Moum on August 30, 1953, at Mouse River Lutheran Church, rural Landa, ND. The couple farmed at rural Upham. Bette died on December 5, 1972. Jerry married Alvina Wermager on January 4, 1974, and they continued to farm until retiring in 1992. Alvina died on July 14, 1998.

Jerry moved from the farm to Minot in 2003. He married Millie Dolan on June 13, 2005, and moved to Stanley where he lived until his death.

Jerry was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham, the Upham American Legion Post # 269 and the Towner Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors: wife, Millie, Stanley; two daughters, Shelley (Pat) Haugen, Washburn, ND, and Lori (Wayne) Marks, Black Hawk, SD; son, Mark (Peggy) Brandt, St. Peters, MO; six grandsons, Jeremy (Dara) Haughen, Washburn, Justin Haugen, Fargo, Tyler Haugen, Minot, Jacob and Jared Brandt, St. Peters, MO, and Jayce Marks, Black Hawk, SD; one granddaughter, Jenna Marks, Black Hawk, SD; one great-granddaughter, MaKennah Haughen, Washburn; four brothers, Sherman (Ramona) Brandt, Upham, Ronnie (Diana) Brandt, Upham, Dale (Beverly) Brandt, Granville, ND, and Wesley (Dee) Brandt, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Lois Degner, Bismark and Lana (Galen) Best, Towner, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cora and his two wives, Bette and Alvina.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham, ND, with Pastor Diane Krumm officiating.

Visitation: Tuesday, April4, 2006, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Bloomfield Cemetery, Upham, ND.
