Edna Brandt • 1914 - 2007 Edna was born on September 22, 1914, the daughter of Sam and Jennie (T-Berg) Mickelson in Pratt Township, ND. She was raised and educated in the Russell, ND area, attending country grade school and Russell High School. On December 12, 1936, Edna was united in marriage to Edwin Brandt. They made their home in the Upham area, where they farmed and raised their family. Edwin died June of 1970. Edna continued to live in Upham. She was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Upham. She was also active in the women's organizations within the church. Among other things, Edna will be remembered as being a wonderful cook and immaculate housekeeper. Edna is survived by her children, Marlene Holen, Upham, Bette (Mark) Porter, Rockford, IL, Myron Brandt, Upham, and Sharon Pettingill, Minot; grandchildren, Bryan (Kitty) Holen, LouAnn (Tony) Debele, Shelby (Tami) Holen, Chris Porter, Amy Porter, Carrie (Mike) Gibson, Collin (Charlene) Welstad, Markaye Hanson, and Marisa (Eric) Falsted; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Thorenson, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Irvine Holen; grandson, Matthew Brandt; great-granddaughter, Jessica Welstad; brother, Ted Mickelson; sisters, Alida Porter and Edith Eliason. Visitation: Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Funeral Service: Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham.
