Wilbur Bradshaw 1910 - 2004

Wilbur Bradshaw, 94, Velva, died Monday, December 27, 2004, in a Velva nursing home.

He was born on August 10, 1910, on his fathers farmstead southwest of Voltaire, ND, McHenry County, the son of George and Lillian (Grace) Bradshaw. Wilbur graduated from Velva High School in 1929.

He married Lilly Herr of Velva on June 29, 1934, in Minot, ND. Wilbur farmed south of Voltaire where he and Lilly raised their two children, Peggy and Warren. Wilbur retired from farming in 1977, and he and Lilly moved to Velva. Lilly died in May 2, 1995. Wilbur entered the Souris Valley Care Center on October 29, 2002.

Wilbur was a member of the Voltaire school board, the Voltaire elevator board, the Voltaire Township Board, the United Methodist Church in Velva and the Oddfellows Lodge. He was instrumental in organizing a local square dance club, which he was active in for many years. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.

Survivors: daughter, Peggy Miller ( Ron ), Graham, WA; son, Warren Bradshaw, Boulder, CO; four grandchildren, Travis Miller, Tacoma, WA, Terrie Barron, Sumner, WA, Troy Bradshaw, Red Oak, IA and Todd Bradshaw, Boulder, CO; great grandchildren, Zackary Miller, Rochelle Robinson, and Michelle and Shayna Johnson; sister Beulah Johnston, Grand Forks, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilly, parents, Lillian (Grace) and George Bradshaw and three brothers, James, Paul and Jack Bradshaw.

Funeral Service: Saturday, January 1, 2005, at 11a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Velva.

Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva.
