Boutilier 1921 - 2004 Richard David "Dick" Boutilier, 82, rural Granville, ND, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at his home. Richard was born on December 15, 1921, and raised on the family farmstead, rural Granville, ND, the son of Peter J. and Elsie (Donnelly) Boutilier. He received his education in Granville and following graduation he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 27, 1942, serving in the South Pacific and received an honorable discharge February 7, 1946. He returned to the family farm and began farming with his father and his brothers. In later years Richard assisted his nephews in establishing their farming operations. He served as Granville Township Assessor for several years and later served on the Granville Township Board. Richard was a member of Hope Congregational Church in Granville and was a 55-year member of the American Legion Burchett-Beck-Barnett-Brown Post #155 also in Granville. Survivors: sister, Evelyn Gotvaslee, Norwich, nieces and nephews, Carol (Steve) Smith, Minot, Ken Gotvaslee, Norwich, Ron (Sheila) Gotvaslee, Buffalo, MN, Brian (Laurie) Gotvaslee, Granville, and Kami Gotvaslee, Minot; great nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Phillip) McClain, Derek (Aili) Smith, Kerry Gotvaslee, Shelly Gotvaslee, Robyn (Einar) Gunderson, Shayna Gotvaslee, Dustin Gotvaslee, Gina Gotvaslee, Sandy Bruesch, Robin (Chuck) Blaine, Victoria Gotvaslee, and Lucas Gotvaslee; eight great-great-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fred and Robert Boutilier, a baby sister and his nephew, Wayne Gotvaslee. Funeral Service: Friday, February 6, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Hope Congregational Church, Granville. Visitation: Thursday, February 5, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND Burial: Granville Cemetery, Granville, ND, in the spring.
