Jim Boltz
, 62, Lake Metigoshe, ND, and Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Bottineau, ND, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Jim was born November 18, 1945 to Howard and Hazel (Juntunen) Boltz. He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1963 and went on to attend the University of North Dakota, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1968. While at UND, Jim was an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and played competitive golf.

He married Sandra Hartsburg (Holwell), also formerly of Bottineau, in 1967. The young couple moved to Tempe, Arizona shortly thereafter, where they both completed their post-graduate studies at Arizona State University, where Jim received his MBA. Jim has long since been an avid
fan and supporter of ASU athletics.

Jim and Sandy raised two daughters, Stacey Boltz and Catherine Boltz and later divorced.

For the past 35 years, Jim has enjoyed a successful career in construction and land development, with his most recent project being Thompson Cove at Loon Lake, where he was partnering with long time friend Mike Morley and Al Gilmore.

Golf remained a passion for Jim throughout his life, which he enjoyed with both of his daughters. He especially enjoyed attending the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Jim also possessed a great passion for tournament bass fishing, primarily throughout Arizona. He was a season ticket holder for the Arizona Cardinals and also enjoyed reading, keeping up with the latest in technology and listening to his favorite music. Willie Nelson and the Rolling Stones were among the favorites in his very diverse collection.

Jim married Linda Wright, of Bonner Springs, KS, in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1998. The couple maintained homes in Scottsdale, Roosevelt Lake, Arizona and Lake Metigoshe, where they enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating together.

In October 2008, Jim was especially proud to become a grandfather for the first time, to Zachary James Meltz. He was looking forward to the birth of his daughter Stacey’s second child, another grandson, this fall.

Jim (aka Nutz’n) will long be remembered for his passion for laughter, endless pursuit of good times and his kind, jolly spirit.

Jim is survived by his wife Linda, daughters, Stacey Boltz (Andy Meltz), Phoenix, AZ, and Catherine Boltz, Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Joan Boltz-Sund (Jim Sund), Scottsdale, AZ; grandson, Zachary James Meltz and niece, Darcie Boltz, Scottsdale, AZ. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
