Edward Bossert 1921 - 2004

Edward Bossert, 83, Karlsruhe, ND, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at a Minot hospital.

Edward was born on April 28, 1921, the son of Math and Margaret (Klein) Bossert on the family farm located in Lake Hester Township of McHenry County, rural Karlsruhe, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Karlsruhe and attended parochial school. As a youngster, he assisted his family with the daily operations of the family farm.

Edward was married to Dorothy Margaret Burckhard on June 20, 1944, in Minot. They rented and worked his uncle's farm in rural Karlsruhe until they purchased the family farm from his mother. Edward was a farmer from childhood right up until the day of his death. Together they raised small grains, livestock, and their eight children. They were very active in the Karlsruhe community. He possessed a great knowledge of the history of the community. It has been said that, "Ed knew everything."

Edward was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe. He took great pride in his ability to care for the church equipment and was an active member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Lake Hester Township Board and served as chairman for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Edward's hobbies included fishing, carpentry, electrical and audio skill work. He loved spending time at family gatherings, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Sundays were always family day and his love for music carried over to his children. He took a great deal of pride taking care of Dorothy, and he had a great deal of love for the farm, and strong faith in God.

11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren
sisters: Mary Keller of Karlsruhe; Regina Wyszkowski of Milwaukee, WI; Catherine Gefroh of West Linn, OR; Rose Anne Senger and Beata Berndt, both of Portland, OR; Margaret Franta of Hermitage, MO; and Theresa Willey of Casper, WY;
brothers: Leo Bossert of Eugene, OR; and Aloysius Bossert of Garrison, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathleen Bradwisch; and brothers, Adolph and Edwin Bossert.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, August 6, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe;

Interment: St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Karlsruhe;

Visitation: Thursday, August 5, 2004, from Noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot;

Holy Recitation of the Rosary/Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot;
