Virgil Borman Sr. 1941 - 2010 Virgil was born to Maurice and Velma (Hedberg) Borman on July 12, 1941, in rural Carpio, ND. He was baptized at Mesiah Lutheran Church, Greene, ND, and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Carpio. He attended school in Carpio and later Minot Business College. Virgil was proud to be a Marine and served from 1958 until 1964, stationed at San Diego, CA, Camp Pendleton, CA, and at MCAS Yuma, AZ. Virgil farmed the family farm north of Carpio and worked for various trucking companies before starting his own business. He retired from both trucking and farming in 1997. Virgil and Karen (Edwardson) were married December 1, 1987. His children from a previous marriage are Virgil Jr., Stewart, and Wendy. The death of his daughter, Heather Edwardson in 2006 continued to cause him great sadness. He will fondly be remembered as “Grandpa Grump”, “The old guy”, “Mr. Band”, and “The old man”. He will be forever missed by those who had the privilege to call him by these names. He was a fan of most kinds of racing, especially NASCAR and World of Outlaws Sprints. He traveled many miles to see Donny Schatz race. His favorite vacation place was Yellowstone National Park, where he brewed many pots of coffee by a clear, swift, mountain stream with the smell of pine and a grand view of the mountains he loved. Virgil is survived by his wife, Karen Borman, Minot; mother, Velma Borman, Minot; sister, Deloris (Bob) Donaldson, Sequin, WA; children, Virgil Borman Jr., Lake Metigoshe, Stewart Borman, Carpio, and Wendy (Johnny) LaMontagne, Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren, Tasha and Britine Borman, Heather and Danielle Borman, and Kyle and Tianna Hanson; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Deija-Symone.
