Paul William Borgers 1912 - 2002

Paul William Borgers, 90, Minot, died Friday, October 4, 2002, in a Minot Nursing Home.

Paul was born on January 28, 1912, in Berthold, ND, the son of Philip Paul and Mary Ellen (Martin) Borgers. He attended country school in the Foxholm area. He married Elvira Urdahl on August 6, 1939, in Minot. They lived in Minot until moving to Seattle where Paul worked for Boeing during the war. They returned to Minot in 1946.

Paul worked for Main Motors and co-owned Borgers and Hall Pure Oil Co. Paul and Elvira owned and operated Borgers Service and Motel, until they retired in 1978.

Paul was the father of seven daughters, grandfather to seventeen children and great grandfather to seventeen children. The Borgers family had a place at Lake Metigoshe where they spent summer weekends together, enjoying the water and each other.

Paul was a gardener, a rock collector, and a woodworker, and used his talents and time to create places and objects that were both beautiful and useful.

Survivors: wife, Elvira Borgers, Minot; daughters, Marlys (David) Armstrong, El Paso, TX, Gail (Jerry) Bongard, Anacortes, WA, Sandra (Dennis) Bergstrom, Plaza, Beverly (Ken) Rogers, Springfield, IL, Ellen (Paul) Metz, Minot, Pamela (Ray) Darby, Olympia, WA, Deanna (Marlowe) Kro, Bismarck, ND; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Delia (Ray) Reeder, Jerome, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy and Clyde; two sisters, Hazel and Imogene.

Paul and Elvira's burial will take place Thursday, October 10, 2002, at 3:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

A memorial service for Paul and Elvira will follow the burial, Thursday, October 10, 2002, at 4:00 p.m., at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Monday, 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot and prior to the service at the Trinity Homes.
