Elvira Louise Borgers 1916 - 2002 Elvira Louise Borgers, 85, Minot, died Monday, October 7, 2002, in a Minot nursing home. Elvira was born October 25, 1916, in Lonetree, ND, the daughter of George and Martha (Holum) Urdahl. She attended school in Lonetree and later Minot High School, where she graduated in 1933. She attended Minot Normal School and earned her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools for a number of years. Elvira married Paul William Borgers on August 6, 1939, in Minot. They lived in Minot until moving to Seattle where Paul worked for Boeing during the war. They returned to Minot in 1946. Elvira and Paul owned and operated Borgers Service and Motel until they retired in 1978. Following their retirement they continued to live in Minot. Paul died three days prior to Elvira, on October 4, 2002. Elvira and Paul were the parents of seven daughters. Grandparents to seventeen children and great-grandparents to seventeen children. The Borgers family had a place at Lake Metigoshe where they spent summer weekends together, enjoying the water and each other. Elvira was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot. She taught Sunday school for a number of years, and also served on the visitation and welcoming committees of the church. Survivors: Daughters, Marlys (David) Armstrong, El Paso, TX, Gail (Jerry) Bongard, Anacortes, WA, Sandra (Dennis) Bergstrom, Plaza, Beverly (Ken) Rogers, Springfield, IL, Ellen (Paul) Metz, Minot, Pamela (Ray) Darby, Olympia, WA, Deanna (Marlowe) Kro, Bismarck, ND; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Borgers; her parents, George and Martha Urdahl; sisters, Ruby, Gerda, May, Irene, and Muriel, and brother, Elvin. Visitation for Paul and Elvira: Wednesday, (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Paul and Elvira's burial will take place Thursday, October 10, 2002, at 3:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. A memorial service for Paul and Elvira will follow the burial, Thursday, October 10, 2002, at 4:00 p.m., at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND.
