Georgia Marie Guttormson Bonderenko
1918- 2010

Georgia Bonderenko PhotoGeorgia Marie Guttormson Bonderenko, Minot, went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2010.

Georgia was born on January 25, 1918 to Steve and Tillie (Rudningen) Guttormson in Ryder, North Dakota, where she and her twelve siblings grew up on a farm.   When she met and married Pete Bonderenko of Makoti,  they moved to Minot where she lived the remainder of her life.  She was devoted to raising her daughters Vivian and Betty in their home on South Hill.

Georgia was a life-long career woman working various jobs, the majority of which were as a cook at the Uptown Nook on Main Street and running the Harrington Stockyard Café where she did all her own cooking and pie-baking.  A favorite  occupation was selling the “Dakota Farmer” newspaper from farm to farm in eastern North Dakota.  She also loved caring for sick and elderly people.

Georgia’s retirement years were spent cooking, canning, traveling, camping, babysitting, gardening, and painting.  She especially enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives.

Georgia’s religious faith was grounded in God’s Word.  She believed in the Evangelical precepts of the Bible, which were part of her daily meditations.  The Lord saw her through numerous medical setbacks, allowing her to live the long life she attained through His miracles and grace.

Georgia is survived by two  daughters, Vivian (Kenneth) Oldfield,  of West Hills, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, and Betty Gaynor of Minot; grandchildren Constance Oldfield Biersch and Chad Gaynor; great-grandchildren Scott Oldfield, Alexander Biersch, and Connor Biersch; great-great granddaughter Kendall Oldfield; brother Oscar Guttormson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Georgia was preceded in death by her beloved parents and eleven siblings: Henry, Evelyn Neshem, Leonard, Ella Leifson, Regina Hansen, Clarence, Lloyd, Alice, Mildred Rice, Stella Lembke and Pearl Karna.
