Raymond Joseph Bofenkamp 1921 - 2002

Raymond Joseph Bofenkamp, 80, 5605 11th Ave. SE, Minot formerly of Ryder, died Friday, June 21, 2002, in his home.

Raymond was born December 17, 1921, in Ryder, ND, the son of Henry and Annie (Bairl) Bofenkamp. He was raised on the family farm near Ryder and attended Blue Hill grade school through the eighth grade.

On June 20, 1946 in Douglas, ND he married Evelyn Bussman. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm near Ryder until their retirement. Evelyn died January 10, 1996. Following her death Raymond moved to Minot to live with his two sons.

Raymond was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Ryder until it closed, and then was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Makoti. He was a member of the Minot Moose Lodge and the Polka Club. He was an active member of the Old Settlers Hiddenwood Picnic Association while in Ryder. In his younger years Raymond played catcher for the Ryder baseball team and he did a lot of fishing. In his later years he was active in dancing at the Moose Lodge.

Survivors: Sons, Rod Bofenkamp and Gary Bofenkamp, both of Minot; six grandchildren, Shawn, Amy, Aaron, Ryan, Jon, and Dawn; one great-grandson, Jaziah; sister, Mildred (Herman) Rader, Elkhorn, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; brothers, Lambert and Lloyd Bofenkamp, and sisters, Susan St. Sauver, Celia Skrypek, and Margaret Bofenkamp.

Funeral: Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Visitation will be Monday, from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., at Rosehill Cemetery, Ryder, ND.
