Alphonse "Al" Boechler 1923 - 2004

Alphonse "Al" Boechler, 81, Karlsruhe, ND, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Alphonse was born March 17, 1923, on the family farm, near Karlsruhe, ND, the son of Frank and Katherine (Holzer) Boechler. Al attended country school in the Karlsruhe area. Losing his parents when he was younger, Al began farming and ranching on the family farm at an early age, and continued to farm and ranch until his death. He was well known throughout the area for his quality Registered Angus cattle, and had many loyal customers.

On October 14, 1946 he married Claire Boehm, the girl next door, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Karlsruhe. In 2003 they celebrated 57 wonderful years together.

Al was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe. He served on the Villard Township Board for over 50 years. Al was a member of the Karlsruhe Senior Citizens and also a member of the American Angus Association. When Al was a school board member he held the position of school board president. Al was an avid hunter during his younger years. He loved playing cards and took great joy in teaching pinochle to his grandchildren. Al's greatest love was his wife and his family. He was proud of his son and daughter-in-law and especially proud of his grandchildren, with whom he enjoyed spending time.

Survivors: Wife, Claire, Karlsruhe; son, Patrick and his wife, Vicky Boechler, Bismarck; two grandsons, Christian and Nicholas Boechler; brother, John (Mary) Boechler, Roseville, MI; sisters, Eva Brunner and Mariann (Loran) Lux, all of Minot, and Teresa Leibhan, Kenosha, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Katherine, and brothers, Conrad, Mike and Phillip Boechler.

Funeral Mass: Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe, ND.

Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Visitation will be Monday, May 3, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m., with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Karlsruhe.
