James H. Bodmer 1917 - 2002 James H. Bodmer, 85, Kenmare, died Wednesday in a Minot nursing home. He was born October 14, 1917, in Kenmare, ND to George and Caroline Bodmer. He was reared and educated in Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School. He then attended North Dakota State University in Fargo and graduated from the Boeing School of Aeronautics in 1939. During World War II he was a pilot for Western Airlines and lived in Cheyenne, WY. In 1946 he returned to Kenmare where he farmed until retiring in 1975. He married Christine Ringen and they had three children together. She died in 1962. He later married Mary Margaret Smisch. She died in 1976. On June 26, 1985, he married Eleanor Morten and they lived in Kenmare. J.H. had numerous hobbies and interests. His hobbies included flying, hunting, fishing, target shooting and RV Travel. At one time he was a director of Westland Oil Company and was also associated with the Kenmare Elevator Company. Throughout the years, he also had oil interest in Montana. Survivors: wife, Eleanor, Kenmare; son, Allen Bodmer and wife Colleen, Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Katherine Pope and husband Jerry, Denver, CO and Jane Bodmer, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Christine and Mary Margaret; parents and brother, Herbert Bodmer. Funeral: Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare. Burial: Monday, 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare. Officiant: Rev.
