Glaudia Bly 1923 - 2010

Glaudia Bly PhotoGlaudia Bly, 87, Minot, ND, formerly of Lignite, ND, died Monday, March 15, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Glaudia Rachel Wade was born March 14, 1923, a daughter of Percy, Sr. and Mary (Shafer) Wade, in Kenmare, ND.  She was raised and educated in the Kenmare area. She then attended Minot State Teachers College where she received her Standard Teaching Certificate.

Glaudia married Elroy “Buster” Bly June 20, 1954, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kenmare. She began her teaching career at one room country schools and at various rural schools. She then became the Burke County Superintendent for many years. She later retired to help her husband with the day to day operation of the farm. They continued to farm until 2001, when they moved to Minot. Together, they spent the winter months in Mesa, AZ.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Portal, and the St. Mary’s Guild of Lignite and the local 4-H Club.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, making crafts, gardening, and the many camping and fishing trips.

Her loving family includes:  husband of 55 years, Buster, Minot; daughter, Dianna (Eugene Davidson) Bly, Minot; brother, Mavor (Janet) Wade, Kenmare; sisters, Ardis Mortensen, Williston, and Cheryl (Harley) Dornick, Rochester, MN; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Glaudia was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Portal.

Interment:
  St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lignite, ND.

Visitation: 
Thursday one hour prior to the service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Portal.

Vigil Prayer Service
: Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Portal.

Memorials
: are preferred to the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Fund, Lignite, or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
