David Bly • 1950 - 2008 David Jerome Bly was born August 18, 1950, the son of Lloyd and Joy (Nelson) Bly in Powers Lake, ND. He was raised and educated in the Lignite area. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Aviation from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. On March 17, 1973, he married Betty Tonneson. Together, they had four children. He farmed most of his life. He was the Mayor of Lignite for several years and was active in many county and state boards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed driving around to have coffee and visit with his many friends. His loving family includes: wife, Betty, Lignite; daughter,
Lisa Van Berkom and her husband, Brad, Dickinson; sons, Jerome
Bly, Lignite, and Christopher Bly, Portal; David was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura. Funeral: Monday, November 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at

in a Minot hospital from complications from a lengthy battle
with cancer.
