Janice Lorraine Blowers
• 1934 - 2003 Janice Lorraine Blowers, 68, 3740 1 St. SE, Minot, ND, died Monday, April 21, 2003 in her home of natural causes after a year long struggle with cancer. She was born on July 21, 1934 in Flint, MI, a daughter of Wesley C. and Gertrude E. (Cargo) Naslund. She was raised and educated in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot Highs School in 1952. She married Gale J. Blowers on June 1, 1952. While raising their family, they made several moves away from Minot, returning in April of 1969 and living there ever since. During her working years, she enjoyed several different positions. She was employed at Trinity Hospital in the early years. She was then hired by Sears as a Department Manager and in 1970 went to Kmart as their first Personnel Manager in Minot. In 1977, she was hired as Personnel Manager for Target when they opened the Minot store. After this she went to work as the first Personnel Director of Ward County. After her resignation from Ward County, she went to work for Community Action as a Self-Reliance Director. While there she obtained her Social Work License in the State of North Dakota. She then went to work as the Personnel Manager for a time before going to work for Pathfinder Family Center where she worked with families who had children with disabilities. She especially enjoyed her position and felt good about what they were able to accomplish. After taking early retirement, she worked around the house and continued to serve some families that needed assistance. She enjoyed baking, cooking, working in the garden, doing embroidery work and visiting with friends. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities. Her family was absolutely her greatest love as was her love for her husband, Gale, with whom she lovingly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1, 2002. Survivors include her husband Gale; her daughters Kimberly Nielsen and her husband Gary of Minot, ND and Tamara Jo White and her husband David of Minot, ND, her sons Byron Blowers and his wife Chris of Bismarck, ND and Blayne Blowers and his wife Cheryl of Ankeny, Iowa. Also surviving are her special grandchildren, Blake Blowers and his wife Andrea, Marisa (Blowers) Auck and her husband Tyler, Channing and Rauchelle Nielsen, Brett and Brittany Blowers, and Lindsey, Danielle, Jennings and Kimberly White. She is also survived by her mother Gertrude Naslund of Minot. ND, her brother, Randy Naslund and his wife Ruby of Fargo, ND, her sister Bette Coleen Nunes of Vancouver, WA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter Alicia White, her father Wesley Naslund and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Warnie Cargo and Mr. and Mrs. Verner Naslund. Funeral: Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot, ND. Visitation: Thursday, April 24, 2003 from noon until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, April 25, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Memorials are preferred to the Pathfinder Family Center in memory of Janice and her infant granddaughter, Alicia White. |
