2002 Clarence "Casey" Victor Blom, 92, Bismarck, formerly of Lignite, died Friday, October 4, 2002, in a Bismarck care center. Clarence was born October 4, 1910, in Lignite, ND, the son of Axel and Alma Blom. He was raised in Lignite and attended Lignite Public School. Clarence helped his dad on the farm and worked on farms in North Dakota and Montana. On April 26, 1934, he married Helen Inga Scott in Williston, ND. In 1942, they moved to Great Falls, MT, where they lived and he worked at a smelting plant. The couple returned to Lignite. He worked for the coal mines near Noonan, ND until march of 1945. That same year, they purchased the Scott farm, near Lignite. They lived and farmed there until September of 1999. They later moved to Minot due to his failing health and to be closer to their daughter. In February of 2000, they moved to Missouri Slope Care Center in Bismarck. Helen died October 26, 2000. Clarence was a charter member of the Lignite Church of God. He served on the boards of the Northwest Bible College, Dale Township and the Church of God. He was also a member of the bowling team in Lignite. Survivors: Daughters, Elvina (Gordon) Brown, Bismarck, Maxine (Larry) Lane, Minot, and Marilyn (Wayne) Brostrom, Bismarck; daughter-in-law, Marsha Larson, Lignite; 10 grandchildren, Dallas Brown, Carmella Bourk, Stacy Merkel, Michelle Weishaar, Melissa Jorgenson, Darren Brostrom, Jason Brostrom, Justin Blom, Kayla Blom, and Megan Blom; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; brother, Roy Blom, Billings, MT; sister, Thelma Lien, Lignite; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Elvera; son, Donald; parents, Axel and Alma; brothers, Carl, Herman, Hjalmer and Gunnar; sisters, Lillie Klitzke and Elsie Hermanson. Funeral: Tuesday, October 8, 2002, 1:00 p.m. at the Lignite Church of God. Visitation: Monday, October 7, 2002, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Friends may also sign the register book prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial: First Lutheran Cemetery, Lignite, ND. Officiants: Rev. Danny Hysjulien and Rev.
