Emma Lillian Block 1908 - 2002 Emma Lillian Block, 93, Burlington, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, in an Adult Foster Care Home, in Burlington. Lillian was born November 21, 1908, in Pepin, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Emma Olson. Her father passed away soon after Lillian's birth and the family moved to an area north of Carpio, ND, to live. She attended country school in Callahan Township during her grade school years. At the age of 16, Lillian and her mother moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked and cared for her mother a number of years. On February 10, 1947, she married Alton R. Block. They made their home in the Carpio area where they lived and farmed. Alton passed away in 1979, and soon after Lillian moved to Minot to be close to family and friends. In January of 1998 she was placed in an adult foster care home in Burlington, where she peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She was a former member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Greene, ND, and also participated in the Callahan Homemakers Club. Lillian enjoyed being with family and friends throughout the years. Playing piano was her favorite pastime daily. During holidays some very special memories were created as she played hymns and sang along with family members. Survivors: Daughter, Sharon Pullen, Minot; stepdaughter, LaVonne Clark, Burlington; stepson, Darrel (Sandra) Block, Carpio; three grandchildren, Kara Elliott, Stephen Elliott and Jerome Pullen, Jr.; 19 step-grandchildren, Craig Block, Judy Ranous, Scott Block, Shane Block, Julie Erck, Cindy Strandberg, Brenda Kunka, Randy Clark, Brent Clark, Troy Clark, Rhonda Hanson, Vicki Finke, Mark Block, Kent Block, Steven Block, Duane Block, Bonnie Lee, Robert Block and William Block; numerous step great-grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren also survive; sister, Olga Aronson, Minneapolis, MN; many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Alton R. Block; stepsons, Wilfred and Warren Block; stepdaughter, Lila Block; stepgrandson, Dwight Block; her parents, and one brother, two sisters and two nephews. Funeral: Monday, November 18, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
