Leon Lyle Bland • 1930 - 2003 He was born on September 24, 1930 to Claude R. and Elma (Dokken) Bland. He grew up and attended school in Berthold. In 1960, he married Darlene Hanson. Their marriage produced two children, Mary Bland, Minot and Debbie Lynn Bland, who died in infancy. In his late teens, he started working for the Great Northern Railroad and later Burlington Northern, after the two railroads merged. He worked for the railroad for his entire life, with the exception of his time spent in the Air Force until his retirement in 1992. Leon loved gardening, entering sweepstakes and watching wrestling. Survivors: wife, Darlene, Minot; daughter, Mary, Minot; sister, Karen Martinez, Aloha, OR and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later time. |
