George Paul Bischoff 1929 - 2005 George Paul Bischoff, 76, 1217 32nd Ave. SW Apt. 1, Minot, died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at Trinity Hospital in Minot. George was born June 5, 1929, at Crary, ND, the son of Paul and Catherine (Martian) Bischoff. He grew up south of Rugby and attended rural school. On October 5, 1955 he entered the United States Army and was a Company Mail Clerk. He served one year in Germany and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1957. Following his discharge he returned to Rugby, ND. He began employment with the Rugby Post Office as a mail carrier where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. George married Mary L. Hettinger September 1, 1959 at Rugby. To this union two sons where born, Dean who lives in Norman, OK and Jim who was killed in a car accident in 1985. Following retirement in 1986, George and Mary moved to Riverdale, ND and ran the Downstream Campground for 10 years. They retired in 1996 and moved to Minot. For 14 years George and Mary were snowbirds and spent winters in Mesa, AZ. They also enjoyed taking bus trips across the United States and Canada. While in Rugby he was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and the Rugby American Legion. In Minot he was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. He was a life-member of the Knights of Columbus in Rugby and Minot. George enjoyed bowling, fishing and all kinds of sports. Besides carrying mail he also found time to coach youth baseball in Rugby for 12 years. He always enjoyed talking to people and making new friends. He loved gardening and taking care of his flowers and plants. Survivors: Wife, Mary, Minot; son, Dean (Lisa) Bischoff, Norman, OK, and their daughter, Carissa Ann; brothers, Eddie Bischoff, Portland, OR, John (Rose) Bischoff, Lexington, NE, Jim (Eva) Bischoff, Seattle, WA, and Paul (Jody) Bischoff, Jr., Monroe, WA; sisters, Helen Brynteson, Rugby, Mary Ann Roberts, Portland, OR, Dorothy (Bud) Robinson, Woodward, OK, Betty Hagen, Portland, OR, Judy (Victor) Wurgler, Knox, ND and Beatrice (Jody) Evans, Grand Island, NE; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. George was preceded in death by his son, Jim Bischoff; his parents, Paul and Catherine and an infant sister. Funeral: Monday, October 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m., with the vigil prayer service at 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Monday at 2:30 p.m., at Little Flower Catholic
