Della Birr • 1906 - 2004 Della Birr, 98, Velva, ND, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at a Velva nursing home. Della Marie Vandeberg was born on June 22, 1906, the daughter of Leonard and Mary (Kahler) Vandeberg on the family farm, rural Anamoose, ND. She was raised there and attended Anamoose country schools. She assisted her family with daily operations of the farm. Della was married to Earl Birr on February 25, 1925, in Minot. They made their home in the Ruso area, where they farmed small grains. They moved to rural Velva in 1938, where Mr. Burr worked for the late Rollie Nurenberger. They then moved to Kenmare, where they managed and operated a bowling alley. Finally moving back to Velva in 1942, and had resided there since. Earl passed away in June of 1973. Della continued to reside in Velva, where she worked for a time at a restaurant. She most recently moved to Souris Valley Care Center, Velva in November of 2001. Della loved her whole family very much and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and traveling. Her loving family includes: daughters: Esther Peterson of Pasco, WA; Ethel Desjardin of Aurora, MN;grandchildren: Gary (Cindy) Peterson, Randy (Carla) Peterson, and Galen (Shelly) Peterson; Janice (Harvey) Rassier, Carol (Duane) Trosdahl, Donna (Donald) Kern, Jean (Paul) Stark, and Shirlee (Thomas) Wright; 18 great-grandchildren;2 great-great grandchildren;sister: Barbara Ave of California; numerous nieces and nephews. Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Gertrude; brothers, Joe, Henry and Hubert Vandeberg; son-in-laws, Harold Peterson and Maynard Desjardin; Funeral Service: Saturday, October 2, 2004, at 11:00
