Blanche Binfet • 1914 - 2007 Blanche was born on January 12, 1914, the daughter of Martin and Barbara (Meyer) Binfet in Odessa, Russia. As a young child she moved with her parents, one older sister and one younger brother to the United States, settling in North Dakota. Her father was killed in a harvest accident shortly after arriving in ND. Her mother got remarried to Michael Leier and moved to Orrin, ND. She attended school for a short time as she had poor eye sight. Blanche never married, but would care for area family's children, when help was needed. She was a very good cook, taking care of her parents until her mother's death. After her mother died, Blanche lived with the Franciscan sisters for a time in Denver, Colorado. She returned to North Dakota and lived with her brother Joe, helping with child care. She has resided at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva the past 16 years. She is survived by: Brothers and sisters: Magdalena Volk, Rugby, ND; Joseph (Marie) Leier, Minot; Clem (Shirley) Leier, Velva; Catherine (Raymond) Walter, Minot; sister-in-law Regina Binfet, Rugby, ND. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Blanche was preceded in death by her mother and father Binfet, step-father Michael Leier, brothers and sisters Sister Borromea, Mike Binfet, Nick Leier, Mary Hoffart, Anne Merck, Christine Volk and Frances Boechler Visitation: Wednesday, September 26, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts.
