Anna Mae Bick 1917 - 2003

Anna Mae Bick, 86, Velva, died Friday in a Minot hospital.

She was born April 27, 1917, on a farm near Voltaire, ND, the daughter of Rudolph and Bertha (Kindt) Westphal. She attended country school and then Minot High School, graduating in 1934. She worked as a nurse's aid at Trinity Hospital until her marriage to Elmer Bick on November 26, 1938. They farmed south of Sawyer for several years until moving to Marysville, WA. She was employed by the Marysville School System in food service until retiring in 1985. They then returned to North Dakota, making their home in Velva. Elmer died on November 29, 1999. Anna Mae continued living in Velva until the time of her death.

She was a member of the Velva Senior Citizens and Hjerdal Lutheran Church, Voltaire.

Survivors: daughter, Barbara J. Blair and her husband, Douglas, Ocean Shores, WA; two grandchildren, Craig D. Blair and his wife, Wendy, Tanya K. Riebeling and her husband Karl; three great-grandchildren, Marissa and Ian Blair and Hans L. Riebeling; brother, Jim and wife Del Westphal, Vancouver, WA; sister, Lillian and her husband Bill Mangold, Ocean Shores, WA, Esther Curtis, Casper, WY, Florence Kerrigan, Seattle, WA and June and her husband Wendell Springsted, Lignite, ND; sister-in-law, Jurina Westphal, Marysville, WA, and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Bill, Lester and Roy Westphal.

Funeral: Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Hjerdal Lutheran Church, Voltaire, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva.

Burial: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, ND, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
