Beatrice L. "Bea" Bettermann, 81, Minot, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

Beatrice L. Klubben was born August 20, 1927 in Cooperstown, ND, the daughter of Edward and Rachel (Sortland) Klubben. She was raised in that area and graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1945. She attended Valley City Teachers College where she earned her standard teaching certificate.

On August 24, 1951 Beatrice married Herbert Betterman near Cooperstown, ND. Bea taught school at Wild Rice, Buffalo, Fargo and Minot, ND. Beatrice continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Minot State University. She taught for many years at Bell School, until her retirement.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, and the church circle. She was also a member of the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association, the Flickertail Homemakers and Birthday Club. Bea enjoyed teaching North Dakota history and wrote stories and books about her family history and growing up in North Dakota.

Beatrice loved her family and enjoyed the time spent with them. She was a wonderful lady, a great mom, grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed.

Those who shared in her life, husband, Herbert Bettermann, Kenmare; children, Mary Jo (Martin) Schramm, Jacksonville, FL, Roger (Tamara) Bettermann, Kirkland, WA and Janel (Dave) Wunderlich, Minot; six grandchildren, Becky Clark, Laurie Hayhurst, Jake and Carlee Bettermann, Levi and Marlee Wunderlich; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Virginia Triebold and Joyce Beattie, who were her best friends.

Memorial service: Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register Saturday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: The burial will take place at a later time near Cooperstown, ND.
