Caroline Bertsch 1918 - 2008 Caroline Lingohr was born January 18, 1918, a daughter of Michael and Catherine (Deibert) Lingohr in Orrin, ND. She was raised on a farm near Orrin with her ten brothers and sisters. Caroline was married to Frank Bertsch in 1937. In 1947, Caroline and family moved to Minot, ND where she raised four children. Her first job in Minot was as a waitress at the bus depot. During her many years of serving others as a waitress, she worked at the Grand Café, Charlie's, and the International Inn. Caroline spent her days making beautiful crocheted pieces, scarves and embroidered dish towels. All of her handiwork was given to her many friends and relatives. No one came to her apartment without receiving something from her-a cup of coffee, a homemade cookie, a beautiful hankie or a crocheted doily. Caroline touched many people with her kind and gentle spirit. She always saw the good in others. She was a devoted mother and expressed unconditional love to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Leo's parish, where she attended daily Mass for many years. Surviving family includes: sons Duane Bertsch and Kasper Bertsch, Minot; daughter, Pat (Don) Merck, Lodi, CA; sister, Mary West, Minot; brother Paul Lingohr, Malta, MT; son-in-law, Frank Matney, Gilman, IA; and special niece and caretaker Mary Bachmeier, Minot; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
