Wayne E. Berland 1928 - 2006

Wayne E. Berland, 77, Kenmare, ND, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on February 23, 1928, in Velva, ND, the son of Johnnie and Alice (Harness) Berland.

Wayne entered the United States Army in January of 1951 serving during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in January of 1953. After his discharge he went to work as an elevator manager in Simcoe, Velva and later in Parshall. In 1969, he purchased Wayne's Bar and Grill. A business he owned and operated until the time of his death.

Wayne was once married to Helen (Berg) Smith.

Suvivors: son, Gary (Donna) Berland, Minot; granddaughter, Tera (Matthew) Buckley; great grandson, Keegan Buckley, all of Grand Forks; sisters, Delores (Arlo) Faul, CA, and Evlyne Brekke, Velva, ND.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gordon, Jack, and Donald.

Memorial Service: Friday, February 10, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Friends may sign a register book one hour prior to the service.
