Norman Bergstad 1942 - 2006

Norman Bergstad, 63, Minot, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 in a Minot nursing home.

Norman Bergstad was born on June 13, 1942, the son of Floyd and Lenore (Flaten) Bergstad, in Minot, ND. He was reared and educated in the Glenburn, Deering, Velva and Voltaire areas.

On August 1, 1973, he was married to Patricia Fordahl. The couple made their home in Minot and Velva, where Norman worked at Kresbach's Implement, Minot. He also worked for the Minot Daily News delivering newspapers, worked as a farmhand for several farmers in the Velva area. Norman and Patricia were married for over twenty years before they divorced. Most recently he worked at the Minot Livestock Auction as a cattle hand, until ill health forced him to retire.

He enjoyed working on his vehicle, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and tending to his garden.

He is survived by: Children: Patty (Ken) Vickers, Velva, ND; Melvin (Fiancee, Katrina Wolf) Bergstad, Bismarck, ND; Ole (Lisa) Bergstad, Minot, ND; Lester (Estoria) Bergstad, Minot, ND; nine grandchildren: Alex, Shyanne, Lacy, Kassidy, Blaize, Shane, Abigail, Hailey and Joseph; sister, Mary Ann (Don) Rudland, Flaxton, ND; brother: Floyd Bergstad Jr. Austin, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Norman was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, granddaughter Angel, nephew Blaine, and a niece, Carolyn.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial: Bergan Cemetery, Bergan, ND
